Blackout watched the Jawas run around their flaming carrier vehicle and rumbled amusement, then looked down at the tiny midnight blue and green being in her hand.
Small grey optics looked back up at her with frightened defiance.
"I don't want to belong to a Decepticon," said the Minicon quietly.
Blackout called to Scorponok to come and chase things as she replied. "What's your name, minion?"
He flinched and frowned. "Beamrider."
"...What the slag's that supposed to mean?"
"It means me." He beeped a soft complaint to himself, his optics lowered now as he plotted how to get away.
Blackout poked him gently with a pinky finger, recognizing signs that said he wasn't very old. "You don't know the war's over? The Autobots won."
Beamrider brightened and looked up at her. "Then I'm free? I can go?"
"No." She closed her hand around him decisively, not looking up as something in the sandcrawler exploded and sent Jawas and droids flying. "I like you. And I always keep what I like."
