Remieverse- in a hotelroom

Rage, brought on by a night of remourseful drinking, coursed through Logan's veins as he snarled, chucking the hotel room's last vase at the wall near his shadow, the woman was always following him, always there, always quiet.

"&*#$ you!" he thundered, approaching her, blood in his eyes. There wasn't even a glimmer of Remie in this woman, not a life-filled, joyus, loud Cajun bone in her body, and he was sick of it.

He raised his clawed fists, mind gonig blank but for the picture this woman couldn't fill, snarling as he finally cornered the only one to duck out during his temper tantrums and imediatly return.

Noah backed away calmly, watching him and trying to understand what all these loud words meant. Her husband was nothing like the men of her people and she was at a loss as to what he was so angry about.

She made to slip away, only to stop as his claws slammed into the wall by her head.

"Y' ain't going anywhere this time, darlin'," he seethed, then grabbed her shoulder roughly, calws dangerously close to her neck.

He didn't even know what he wanted from her, but he was crossing the line, and couldn't pull together the resistance to stop himself.

She pushed at his hand, feeling surprise when he didn't let go, then looked up at his face and frowned slightly at the look in his eyes. It was in that moment that she understood that if she didn't get away from him he would actually cause her harm.

A tiny bare foot slammed abruptly into his mouth, and she darted across the room and got the bed between them, then watched.

She looked up at the reassuring rumble of his voice, tears showing faintly in her dark eyes. This was still all over her head, but at least he was behaving in a way she understood now.

He frowned, getting to the hospital, then swearing rather loudly when he saw the waiting room. He went to the front desk, signing in, then looked around and asked for a doctor.

"A doctor will be with you soon," and overworked nurse handed hm a clipboard, and instead he grunted angrily.

"Kin I at least get some pain meds?" he snarled.

"Not until you write that down," the nurse gave him an impatient look and left, and he took her to a sheltered corner, Sitting down with her.

"Hang on," he said gently, wiping near her eyes nd holding her close, even as he got agitated with himself. This was his fault. "Don't cry, darlin', I'll get this stupid form filled out n' we'll get y' somethin for the pain."

She sighed and leaned against him for a moment, then looked around at the other people in the room before looking at her foot and frowning at the swelling. It needed wrapping at least.

Those dark eyes looked up at her husband again.

She bowed her head slightly in acceptance, then looked up as a nurse stopped in front of them and frowned.

"Oh dear," said the woman. "You need to be looked at right away. Hold on, I'll get a wheelchair."

Logan nodded, then scowled slightly and followed her.

"Show me where ta take her," he said, eyes daring her to protest.

The nurse hesitated, then nodded. "This way."

The doctor only shook his head slightly, smelling of faint amusement, then nodded to the dozing Noah and left the examining room.

Logan would have followed if he hadn't been holding his wife, and instead continued stroking her hair and murmuring soft reassurances, waiting.

She blinked and looked at him, then reached inside her shirt and took out their wedding knife, offering it to him.

"Here in the hall." The doctor opened the door, watching the man carefully.

Logan gathered his wife to him, taking her out and gently placing her on it.

"How long'll it be?" he asked, not looking up from her.

Dr. McCoy gave him his best estimate, then added, "You may watch from the observation bay, if you wish."

She settled against him, only to doze and once more feel like she was falling.

He rocked her gently, murmuring, then looked up as a nurse came in.

"Lower her #@%& pain killers, woulda ya? They're messing with her head," he snarled.

"Keep in mind, Mr. Logan, that you are not the only man in this room with heightened senses," said Dr. McCoy, looking over his shoulder to be sure that the door was closed and the nurse was gone. "I can snuff out a lie as well as you. And your lady's blood showed no trace of heavy metals or other modern toxins, by which I deduce that she's not been in this fair land for long."

Three claws popped out of the hand not keeping Noah tucked in. "Keep in mind, Blue, ya rat her out n' they come after us, yer affairs better be in order. She'll be back home soon enough. The amount a' blood shed between her n' it don't matter t' me much. Y' wanna keep it t' a minimum, tell me she's good t' go n' we'll be on our way."

"Continue to make threats an I will require you to wear a restraining collar and gauntlets," said the doctor severely.

"Try it," Logan snarled.

Dr. McCoy nodded walked over to a cart by the door to get the connections for the heart monitor, which he then pulled out of its locked cabinet. "Unfasten her gown at the shoulder that I..." He paused. "That you may affix the stickies."

He nodded and did so, inwardly thanking him for not making him intrust his wife to a stranger again.

"Such unions are easily rendered null," offered the big blue man.

"Not fer her people. She was a gift, n' for her people it's one a' the greatest honors. She's loyal ta me, n' I'm gonna see that I fill the role I'm supposed ta," he rumbled. "Soon as I finish seein' t' my buiness in this world I'm takin' her back n' givin' er the home she deserves. When her father gets the heir t' the throne he really needs I'll leave the people be, after she's gone n' don' need me no more."
