Josh's Reality: STAR Labs, Gordon Family Compound: Invitations

Lar--who'd been spending much of his time exploring various portions of the multiverse--arrived outside the complex, having teleported into the universe high in orbit.  He wasn't quite sure how one got a message across multiversal lines, but Josh somehow had.  He'd asked Lar to come celebrate, but not specified what.

Still, he was always happy to come see a friend.  His feet touched down on the ground with barely a sound.

"Think we should wait outside?" Josh looked around the crowds as they left the theater.

"Probably a good idea. It's a bit crowded in here."

He spoke into his watch to let the girls know where they'd be, then led the way out into the slightly cool night air. A quick glance, sniff, and listen all around, and he vanished in a puff of wind.

It took a bit of telescopic and X-Ray vision, but Lar was able to locate where Josh had gone and moved just as fast to follow.

The taller boy was sitting on the roof in his uniform, his legs crossed as he gazed upward at the stars.

Lar had returned to his "costume" as well. He landed next to Josh. "What's going on?"

"Humm?" He looked up from listening to something on the other side of town.

"You took off pretty quickly. I thought something was wrong."

"Oh. Sorry. No, I just wanted to go without anyone seeing me." Josh's ready blush appeared.

Jenny held out her wrist so that he could see the watch that she wore. "You can see a bit of movement when we go. It's like we blur sideways a bit."

The focus of his eyes shifted just a bit as he scanned it with his x-ray and microscopic vision. "Amazing," he said.

"Technology from another Earth," said Josh softly. "Patterned after the ability of one of their leaders."

"Very nice," he agreed.

Josh chuckled. "Wanna see what it's like?"

"Sure, why not."

"Okay, come stand over here." He called up the holographic screen and quickly adjusted something, then let it vanish and looked at his friend with a grin.

"All right," he said, moving to stand where he was told.

"Och." She sounded surprised as she leaned forward to look over his shoulder at his face from where she was hanging off his back. "Fergi' me. I was but playin'. I didnae mean tae fash ye."

"You're fine. Really," he insisted.

Her brows drew together behind her mask, but she just reached over and patted him gently on the chest before turning to see what Jenny was laughing about. Seeing she and Josh hovering a couple feet above the rooftop, her eyes widened again. "Och! Tis time tae go?"

"I guess it is," he replied.

Her arms tightened around his neck as she contemplated leaving the ground. "Och... alright...."

He adjusted his arms so he was actually carrying her, rather than letting her hang by his neck. He also started floating a few inches off the ground.

"Eeeek!" was her response, though more surprise than fear. She hugged his neck and hid her face.

Then peeked.

"Don't worry," he said. "You're perfectly safe." He floated over to the edge, leaving nothing but empty air beneath him.
