It's been a few days since the incident with the mugger. Icy has returned to her routine of practicing with Hudson, Goliath, and the other fighters, filling the kitchen with goodness, sitting under the furniture to study, and spending time with Lex. The shock's faded from her eyes, and she even smiles again, but she hasn't said a word since she woke up the night after she knocked the man down. It's not a conscious thing, and she's rather mystified at her lack of voice herself.

Right now she's sitting in one of the living room windows, hidden by the curtain as she scratches away busily in a pretty journal that one of her sisters gave to her. Her handwriting is getting better, and the flow of words onto the page is soothing.

Icy's seeming loss of her ability to talk is certainly a worrying one, at least as far as most are concerned. Guinevere, in particular, has been trying to make an extra effort to spend time with her.

So just where is she?

She looks up as someone comes into the room and peeks through the crack in the curtain, her mouth curving upward at the corners as she sees one of her sisters.

A small blue hand slips between them and waves.

Guin gently pulls the curtain aside. "Are you hiding, Sister?"

She shakes her head and points from the moonlight to her journal page.

"Oh?" she asks. "What are you writing about?"

See Icy. See Icy blush herself purple as she looks down at her book.

"Oh. It is private?"

A slight headshake, and then her finger goes up to write on the chilled window.

'Lex.'

She smiles. "Ah, yes. You two are... what did Broadway call it, ah yes, a "couple" now?"

Icy nods shyly, then moves so as to offer her larger sister a place to sit beside her.

Guinevere sits down next to her, offering a small smile. "I am glad to see you are doing well."

Icy looks up at her uncertainly, then fishes around in the pillows on the windowsill till she finds a piece of scrap paper that she'd left there.

'Am I really?' she writes.

"You are better, at least. That is something."

'Elisa doesn't seem very happy with me.' She frowns slightly, worriedly, as she writes it.

"I think she is just worried about you," Guinevere says.

Icy looks away, her small face full of sadness.

Guinevere puts a sympathetic hand on Icy's shoulder. "Do not be ashamed. Concern for one's family is natural."

'I'm not what a gargoyle is supposed to be,' she writes, sighing. 'But trying to change it makes things worse.'

"You made a mistake. This happens with us all," Guinevere says. "And change is never easy."

'I'm not talking about when I hit the man.'

"What are you talking about, then?"

'I can't fly well. I can't fight well, even when I do as I've been taught....'

"You must remember, Elisa was nor originally a Gargoyle. Her expectations, while often with ours, will not always be the same. Her experiences suggest that Gargoyles of our age are all able warriors, and she may have trouble reconciling the differences."

Icy lifts her brow ridges, then writes again. 'Everyone here is.'

She nods. "It is... difficult, to understand how you could not have the skills that the rest of us grew up learning. I do not think any of us truly understand where you were from. That it has made you different."
