It's been a few days since the incident with the mugger. Icy has returned to her routine of practicing with Hudson, Goliath, and the other fighters, filling the kitchen with goodness, sitting under the furniture to study, and spending time with Lex. The shock's faded from her eyes, and she even smiles again, but she hasn't said a word since she woke up the night after she knocked the man down. It's not a conscious thing, and she's rather mystified at her lack of voice herself.

Right now she's sitting in one of the living room windows, hidden by the curtain as she scratches away busily in a pretty journal that one of her sisters gave to her. Her handwriting is getting better, and the flow of words onto the page is soothing.

Icy's seeming loss of her ability to talk is certainly a worrying one, at least as far as most are concerned. Guinevere, in particular, has been trying to make an extra effort to spend time with her.

So just where is she?

She looks up as someone comes into the room and peeks through the crack in the curtain, her mouth curving upward at the corners as she sees one of her sisters.

A small blue hand slips between them and waves.

Guin gently pulls the curtain aside. "Are you hiding, Sister?"

She shakes her head and points from the moonlight to her journal page.

"Oh?" she asks. "What are you writing about?"

See Icy. See Icy blush herself purple as she looks down at her book.

"Oh. It is private?"

A slight headshake, and then her finger goes up to write on the chilled window.

'Lex.'

She smiles. "Ah, yes. You two are... what did Broadway call it, ah yes, a "couple" now?"

Icy nods shyly, then moves so as to offer her larger sister a place to sit beside her.

Guinevere sits down next to her, offering a small smile. "I am glad to see you are doing well."

Icy looks up at her uncertainly, then fishes around in the pillows on the windowsill till she finds a piece of scrap paper that she'd left there.

'Am I really?' she writes.

"You are better, at least. That is something."

Desdemona had not had much interaction with Icy since she and Othello had returned to the Clan. In point of fact, she'd only seen the girl at mealtimes. Whether that was due to her own atrophied social skills or otherwise, she did not know.

But it would not do for her not to know a member of her own Clan.

Icy's on the couch now, tucked in the corner as she resumes her journaling, she looks up though as she hears someone else come in, and then pauses and goes utterly still as she sees the woman that she doesn't know yet.

"Hello, young one."

She gets a shy smile and wave in reply.

"We have not had much time to speak before, have we?"

She shakes her head and hesitantly points to the couch beside her. Will Desdemona sit?

Taking a moment to fold her wings, she takes Icy up on the offer. "The others call me Desdemona," she says. "I am comfortable answering to that, I suppose."

She takes the scrap paper and writes, "I'm known as Icy."

She takes her time reading it over, carefully sounding out the words. After all, she's still in the process of learning to read.

"I still find it strange, this need for names."

'Me too,' she writes, making her letters more printed and less cursive. 'I often forget them.'

She nods her agreement. "I am much more used to defining others by the relationship to myself, or their position with the Clan. But if names are what is required, I will bow to that will."

Icy nods, tucking her feet up under herself and catching her tail so that she can frazzle the tuft.
