Maggie appears in the other universe and looks around apprehensively.  She desperately needs someone to talk to and, frankly, there's no one in her own universe that she feels comfortable talking to right now.  Not Derek, no one in the Labyrinth, and most especially not Elisa.

Though the person she's most looking for might not be the best source to vent her problems too...  At least it's one step removed from home, a little further away from it all...

The Maggie who appears in the courtyard is one troubled cat.

"Yo, Mags! Wassup?" Brooklyn looks around from where he's having a smoke before going in for breakfast.

"Is Lucy around, Brooklyn?" she asks quietly.

"Probably somewhere inside saying hi to Hudson before they have breakfast," he says in a less jocular tone, frowning with concern as he holds the cigarette so that the smoke blows away from her. "You alright?"

"I'm... really not sure, Brooklyn."

"Do you know how far along you are?" She absently puts a hand on her own stomach.

"About a month," she replies.

Lucy nods. "Any nausea or mood swings?"

Lucy's heart twists. "That's true. But the child will also be surrounded by adults who care. And another whole clan who would jump to protect it."

Maggie nods slightly. "You're not wrong," she says. "But... I understand, that for some people... you, Elisa, it's okay not to be 'normal.' But I wake up every day, praying that I can be human again."

"Maggie, did you come here to ask me to change you back?"

"Maybe they could see about getting a short note to them. Just something saying that you were witness to a crime and are in hiding, but that you're alright?" says Lucy. "It's true, in a way."

Maggie nods. "That could work, I suppose."

"They'd know, then. And witnesses sometimes have to stay in hiding their whole lives."

Lucy offers the tortilla. "I kept the spices down."

Maggie accepts it and takes a bite. "Thanks."

"So what do you feel like going for? Christmas cards? Presents? Stuff for you?" Lucy shrugs her own coat on better and makes sure her cotton sundress isn't sticking to her fur.

"He has the dark red one." Lucy smiles at her. "And he's very certain that he's the most huggable older man around when he wears it. I keep having to disabuse him of the notion."

Maggie laughs. "Sure you're not just a little biased?"

"Maybe a little." Her smile goes a bit smug.

"It seems to be." Lucy winces and leans against the wall as the floor seems to drop out from under her.

Maggie reaches out to help steady her. "Are you all right...?"

"Yes. It's just my baby protesting the elevator ride." She closes her eyes and recites Pi to herself in an effort to distract herself from the trip.

Lucy gets her safely into the cab, then gives him directions that will take them to their first destination by the long way so that Maggie will have time to relax a little and get used to being out in the open.

Maggie settles into the cab and tries to relax.

They ride around and see the sights, and then have a peaceful and uneventful shopping trip.
